See your limits. Keep a thought. Take the thread with you.
Stay is a Chrome extension for the chat page you already pay for. A chip in the header shows how much of the current window is gone. You keep a line on this device, and you take the thread with you.

What it is
Stay sits on Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Grok. Claude is the first host, not the brand. It is not another chatbot, and it is not a second memory for the host. There is no Stay account for the chip, a kept line, or export.
The chip reads the usage the host already shows. Keep, Continue, Summarize, and Export run in your browser. Nothing is sent to a Stay server unless you turn on Pro sync, which is off.
How to use it
- Install Stay from the Chrome Web Store.
- Open Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or Grok and sign in as you already do.
- The chip sits in the header, next to the host’s own controls.
- Click the chip. Usage is at the top. Type a line and Keep. Continue, Summarize, and Export take the thread.
- Option+Shift+D (Windows: Alt+Shift+D) focuses the keep field.
Copy puts the last turns on the clipboard. Kept holds pinned lines, remembered threads, and saved exports. This week counts time on each host in this browser.
FAQ
What does the chip show?
How much of the current usage window is gone, and when it resets. Click it for session and weekly rows. The number is meant to match the host’s own Settings within a couple of percent. Stay does not invent token counts.
A dash means the host has not published a window yet, or this chat does not have one.
Which chats does Stay work on?
claude.ai, chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com, gemini.google.com, and grok.com. It does not run on other sites, and it does not ask for all URLs.
Does Stay send my chats to a server?
No. The chip, kept lines, and exports stay in Chrome local storage on this device. Stay does not proxy your messages through a model API. Privacy.
How do I keep a thought?
Open the chip, type a line, Keep. Or press Option+Shift+D and type. Insert pastes the line into the composer. Pin a line to see it on every supported host. Stay never writes into Claude or ChatGPT memory.
What do Continue, Summarize, and Export do?
Continue pastes the last turns into the composer so you can pick up on a fresh chat. Summarize uses Chrome’s on-device summarizer when the browser has one; otherwise it copies a short clip and a prompt for the host. Export downloads the thread as a markdown file. Copy is the same continuation, on the clipboard, without spending an export.
Is it free?
Yes. All of it, until the first 100 users. Then a free cap and Pro. Payments are not in this version.
What is TypeNote?
A separate product for longer writing. Stay can open it. It is not a Stay feature.
What Stay is not
Not TypeNote. Not a project-memory graph. Not “Clype for Claude.” Not a team seat. Not a silent write into the host’s own memory.
